About Christy Colebank
Illustration & Fine Art Prints
I am writing a new chapter in my life as an artist. Though I have devoted the last twenty years to ministry and teaching, I can draw on my years of experience as a professional graphic artist and illustrator to take on new challenges and assignments in commercial and fine arts.

About Christy

For Christy Colebank, art and horses have always been an integral part of her life. Her dream to study art was realized when she was accepted to Rhode Island School of Design to study Illustration. She has an extensive portfolio of commercial art; she spent half her life as a commercial illustrator with clients such as Dunkin Donuts, Textron, and Herff Jones when illustration art was created with the pen and ink she loves, before computers became the medium of choice.

God took a hand, when she moved to Texas in 1988, leading her to Seminary study and work as a Director of Christian Education, then Special Education in public schools, and now as a Vocational Rehabilitation Teacher with Blind adults. The demands of teaching and the deteriorating health of her husband, Bob, did not leave much time for art; however, there are a few of her creations around Wimberley,Texas: a wheelbarrow she painted for The Garden Club at Emily Ann Theater; a “Cowpokes” mural at Scudder School; and scenery for the Wimberley Players, most recently for “Christmas Belles”.

Christy made a new commitment to her art, after the passing of her husband.    In just one month she accomplished a lot, much of it with a equine theme: She worked with Margery Marshall to gather works of original art, and created her own original scratchboard piece, to present the “Stations of the Cross” at Wimberley UMC for Easter 2009; she won second place in The Emily Ann Butterfly Day contest, senior fantasy division, with a Pegasus design; exhibited her first series of giclee prints of a Pegasus and Unicorn pair at the Wimberley Art Fest; she displayed “Pegasus in Pound” and its companion piece, a Unicorn, at the Wimberley Community Center Gallery; she submitted “Listening” a multi media drawing of a Zebra to the current New Braunfels Art League Gallery show, “All Things Great and Small”; and she donated “Spirit of the Owl” for the Rotary Art Gala. This month came to climax with her election as June Artist of the Month by the Wimberley Valley Art League. “Pegasus” will go on display at “Interior Elements” store in Wimberley, with giclee prints available for sale. Prints will also be available at “All About Image” gallery in Wimberley, Texas.

This website has Images of: Pen & Ink “Pegasus in Pound” (30” x 40”) and its companion piece of a Unicorn; Colored Pencil, “Protective Mom”; Mixed media  “Listening” on display at New Braunfels Art League exhibit “All Creatures Great and Small”;  2009 Butterfly Day winning entry of a Pegasus and Unicorn Pair that has been reproduced in Colored Pencil on Vellum in giclee prints.
“Look out, God’s not finished with me yet”, she warns. “I’m just getting started.” She is looking forward to new inspiration for her art. She plans a series of flower pieces inspired by a trip to Butchart Gardens in Victoria, BC, Canada. Another source of inspiration will be a trip in October to Beijing, China.
